Ben was also excited about something, whether it was a movie, new restaurant, music, book, game what-have-you. His excitement was infectious. How did he infect you?

Ben was my trainer for almost a year at S&H. He was a great trainer, knowledgeable and inspiring and encouraging. But what I enjoyed most about my sessions with Ben were our conversations about books. He told me all about the Game of Thrones series before the HBO show came out, and I had never heard of the books. I don’t like fantasy, and would never have tried them. But Ben told me all about how psychological the books are, and how much he loved the characters, so I bought the first book and became hooked. I read the whole series – at about 1000 a book it took me months – and was totally addicted. Kept talking to Ben about the books the whole time we worked together. Finished the last book a few weeks before Ben died but I didn’t see him again in time to talk to him about the final book. I keep wanting to ask him his thoughts about the plot twists and decisions the author made. I also keep wanting to hear about Ben’s interests in other books and the movies he has seen recently. Our conversations were so interesting and fun, all the while I was pumping iron or balancing on a ball. I really miss Ben.
